Girl in the Mirror
Girl in the Mirror is a growing series of candid performances where I embrace my self image by recording myself getting ready in the mirror.
This body of work comes from the need to find confidence when insecurity is the first obstacle. It is also an art historical response to the countless times male artists have painted sad or self deprecating women gazing at themself in the mirror.
When installed, the video performance is meant to be projected onto a mirror. As a result, the projected video is reflected onto the opposing wall and surfaces. This installation method is one that engages the viewer with what it truly means to project oneself in a public, and reflect on oneself in private.
