Breakthru Artist

As a young artist finishing her BFA, I think many of my peers and I are trying what seems to be the impossible. Having that “big break” to gain recognition for our practice.

This performative piece gives me the essence that I did, in some sense, break through those barriers.

As an artist I am interdisciplinary. My diploma will say “painting”. I enjoy incorporating other mediums, and often took sculpture classes. I “broke” into the sculpture classroom, and often find breakthrough moments in my studio.

Barbara Pierce

Prosthetic makeup performance piece.

Barbra got tired of strangers and random men touching her shoulders without consent. She grew spikes on her back to show she is not to be messed with.
